Presentation & career:
“Namaste! Hello! Bonjour! I’m Sanskruti Satam, Indian by origin. I was born and brought up in Mumbai. I’ve also done my education here. I am currently working in Mane India Pvt. Ltd. as a trainee perfumer. My role requires me to smell all the raw materials and create basic accords, while also studying the classic fine fragrances.”
How do you imagine your career in 5 years?
“In future, I imagine myself working as a Perfumer, handling multiple projects across categories, and also contributing to other work along with creation.”
Concerning the GIP, why did you want to be a part of this adventure? Could you explain the impact of the GIP on your both professional and personal life?
“I had completed a post graduation diploma in Perfumery & Cosmetics, before joining the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. However, I felt I needed an additional program to learn the depths of Perfumery. A program where I could study the materials, in the extracted as well as nature form. I learned about this course from my professor and a friend, who had already completed it. The method of the program fit my idea well, so I applied. I have always preferred learning things practically, and Perfumery definitely demands that. All our senses need to work together for us to understand the intricacies of a material. The experience at Grasse has changed not only my life but also my perspective towards it. It has also helped me enhance my knowledge of Perfumery. I spent my year smelling different materials, creating a variety of accords and fragrances. I think the experience also taught me the value of time. Time is precious, and managing it is not as easy as it seems. I owe it to Grasse for teaching me something so invaluable. “
Do you have any advice to the current or future students of the school?
“One thing I would like to tell all those who are currently a part, and also those who will be, of the program – Discover the most of it. Take the most out of it. There’s so much to learn. Learn the subject. Learn about the different cultures your classmates come from. Learn Most importantly, learn about yourself. Invest this year wisely, and you will be surprised to see what you’re capable of achieving. The knowledge of perfumery is quite deep. Together, by sharing, you will grow. While as individuals, you’ll enrich.”
