Technical Assistant in Fragrance, Flavour and Cosmetic

The activity of the assistant takes place in the agro-food, cosmetics and fragrance industries. Manufactured products have the essential characteristic to be used by living beings. Due to their origin and destination, they must be transformed into specific conditions of hygiene and safety,  using good operating practices, in order to prevent, mistakes, confusion or contamination, and to ensure the protection of people, products and the environment.

The assistant by its scientific and technological training, and knowledge of materials, equipment, methods and environment of his job, could exercise its functions in the field of production (laboratory, preparation, manufacture, distribution, packaging).

They are responsible for carrying out, in the best conditions of quality, quantity, cost, health and safety, products that meet the specific requirements of these industries, both nationally and internationally

Programme

  1. General and organic chemistry.
    Applications of chemistry in the flavor, fragrance and cosmetic industry.
  2. Analysis techniques.
    Different analytical techniques for the control of raw materials and compositions of fragrances, flavors and cosmetics.
  3. Perfumery.
    Olfactory discovery of natural and synthetic raw materials.
    Principles of weighing and mixing.
    Discovery of the alcoholic and functional formulation.
  4. Food flavorings.
    Discovery of natural and synthetic raw materials.
    Formulation and application for different media: beverages, confectionery, biscuits, dairy products, soups, snacks…
  1. Cosmetics.
    Learning formulation and preparation of cosmetic bases: creams, lotions, gels, soaps …
  2. Extraction and distillation process.
    To understand and to use the various industrial equipment (scales, pumps, reactors, distillation columns, drying apparatus …

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :

This course delivers an official diploma recognized by the French government.
The working language is English.
During the course you will be visiting factories and laboratories.
Limited to 12 students. sponsored each year by a local or international company.

Period

The course lasts for 6 months, from January to June. You can do an internship of 4 to 8 weeks after the school period, it’s optional but highly recommended. The internship can take place anywhere in the world, in the fragrance industry.

Enrolment fees

It costs 7 500 euros. There are 12 places on this course for students chosen for their creativity and olfactory talent.

Application

The first step is to send us by email and written in English:
• A detailed curriculum
• A letter of motivation (min. 2 pages)
Be careful, only applications received between January 1st and October 31th of the current year will be taken into account for the course of the following year.
After receipt of your application by the admissions service, your application is assessed in order to ensure that your profile matches the requested programme and, if necessary, there is not a more suitable programme.
At this stage, it takes about 4 weeks to receive a response by email.

Assessment

If your application is eligible, you will receive a folder to complete and return to us. Upon receipt, we will propose dates to attend a on-line test and an interview by skype.

Decision

After assessing your tests and the interview, you will receive a definite answer as to your eligibility afetr 4 weeks.
